From the name, you would probably predict that my blog would be about working a nine to five job. That wasn't what I had in mind. I don't even have a nine to five job. It's more of an 8:30 to 5 job. Maybe I will change the name at some later date.

I don't think I will even talk about my job that much, although I'm reluctant to make any sort of predictions on what this blog will become.

What do I know? I know that this blog is limited. As it exists only within the space of the comment section of The Salted Espresso (which I shall now refer to as TSE), this blog is limited in its updating ability. I can only make an update after the author of TSE decides to update his blog. If something tragic (God forbid) should befall him while wandering the streets of Naples in a semi-drunken stupor, then I may never make another entry to my blog.

I also depend on the author of TSE to not delete my entries, which he is capable of doing at any moment. I am at his mercy to allow me to exist in my little corner.

Finally, to the best of my knowledge, I am unable to post any pictures to illustrate my entries. I thought at first that this wouldn't concern me at all, and that I would simply rely upon my writing ability to communicate everything. Pictures, however, predate words. They are capable of getting closer to the true meaning of something than words are. The picture, for instance, of the terrible pizza diavola equivalent says everything that can be said. While pictures may be removed from the objects they represent, words are doubly so. Human beings don't dream with words. Regardless, I will do my best with words alone.

I had a moment of peace earlier this week when I became lost in the used bookstore across the street from where I live. The bookshelves are so close together that there is barely enough room for one person to walk normally between them; you have to turn sideways. Claustrophobics would be advised to stay away. The old books with their old smells suffocate you, as if you were their rich uncle, and you had just now written them into your will.

After the initial overwhelming feelings of being trapped, the experience of being entirely alone (except for the quiet old Asian lady owner), among the books was very peaceful.

Hopefully I will update again soon.Tom Thayerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05133751624225676041noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8703766260150562230.post-74438775380161744452008-09-04T19:03:00.000-07:002008-09-04T19:03:00.000-07:00I really enjoyed reading this though I fear for yo...I really enjoyed reading this though I fear for your waistline.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02668001254861885641noreply@blogger.com
